So i always lag behind, and i know the work that I have to do shouldn't be an excuse for not keeping up with this blog, cuz its not, I just don't have motivation, nobody really reads this, maybe my brother, yea i know you do. Anyways guess who came to my campus a couple weeks ago little brother. OBAMA MAMA!! haha sorry, to formally put it, President OBAMA!! Now I am not a democrat (or a republican) so why should I be excited you may ask? Well gee golly gosh, i don't know, it's the president and a historic one at that.
So me and two friends waited in the bitter cold since around nine am (others were in line as early as 4am). We "camped out". Blankets on the ground a laptop playing music and with a hot drink in hand, we chatted with other students, people took pictures and videotaped and interviewed people, there were protesters and people handing out flyers about God or the environment. The line grew and stretched as time went on, maybe a half a mile long. As 1 pm, the time that the doors would open, approached. We stood up in the excitement and fervor. The line got wider though, people from the street cut others in line. So as we approached the front we found out that no more people were allowed in. We were angry, sad, but mostly disappointed. The police shouldn't have better controlled the crowd, the University should have placed the event in a larger area. Although the announcement of the President's arrival was sudden there still should have been more organized planning.
Still it was incredible to see the huge amounts of people, passionate about politics. Whether it was the republicans for Scott Brown or the democrats for Martha Coakley. Yet I was disgusted of the people who degraded the President and the intense angry arguments. Many were also chanting "If it's Brown flush it down" an some other funny demeaning phrases.
I spent the whole day in this political war zone. The President's presence and speech though didn't help Coakley. Scott brown won. The weekend was quite interesting though. I won't forget it.
it's a good review of the presidents from GW to Clinton, it's funny, plus the 90's were incredible!!
